At Rebol Family Dentistry, we do our best to prevent permanent tooth loss. However, some permanent teeth may cause more problems than they should. When this occurs, we are happy to provide tooth extraction services to safely remove problematic teeth within your smile. Tooth extraction may be necessary if you have experienced severe tooth decay, overcrowding, or blunt trauma.
Additionally, many patients find themselves in need of a tooth extraction when their wisdom teeth grow in. Our doctors can safely and comfortably provide you with the extraction services you need to maintain the overall well-being of your dental health. Learn more about tooth extraction below.
Tooth Extraction in Asheville, NC
Dr. Rebol and Dr. Sparks are experienced general dentists in Asheville, NC. They have the expertise necessary to perform tooth extractions for erupted or impacted teeth. If your tooth extraction requires a surgical procedure, our doctors can provide this service from the comfort of our dental office.
However, if the tooth has erupted from the soft tissues, then oral surgery may not be required. Instead, the tooth can be gently rocked back and forth until dislodged. Regardless of what procedure is needed to extract a tooth, rest assured that we will keep you calm and comfortable so that you do not experience any pain or discomfort.
Do I Need A Tooth Extraction?
At our office, we take a conservative approach to dentistry. We try to save your natural tooth structure whenever possible. However, sometimes the best course of action for your oral health is to extract a problem tooth. Typically, this happens if you have a tooth that’s experienced severe damage, decay, or trauma and is unable to be saved.
Sometimes, tooth extraction is also used to address crowding in your mouth. Crowded, crooked teeth are harder to clean and can be painful, affecting your mouth function. Certain teeth may be pulled to allow your mouth to have more space and provide you with a balanced bite.
Wisdom Teeth Extraction
Wisdom teeth create a lot of problems for you and your smile. Because they grow during your late teens or early twenties, wisdom teeth often do not have enough space to fully erupt. This causes impaction, which can lead to infection and unwanted teeth shifting.
We take routine dental X-rays to monitor your wisdom teeth development during routine appointments. Once it is time to have them removed, we can safely do so from the comfort of our Asheville, NC dentist office. Patients should have their wisdom teeth removed sooner rather than later to prevent the long-term effects that they may have on your smile.
Tooth Replacement Options
If you do need to have a tooth pulled, we offer multiple options to replace your tooth. Whenever possible, we recommend replacing your tooth with a dental implant. Dental implants are the only tooth replacement option that replaces the tooth root as well as the crown. Replacing this tooth root prevents your jawbone from deteriorating further and gets you back 100% of your bite function. However, dental implants aren’t an option for patients with poor oral health or that are missing significant portions of their jawbone.
Dental bridges and dentures are available to replace one or more missing teeth. Bridges can be anchored to natural teeth fortified with dental crowns or dental implants. Dentures can also be supported by a few dental impacts, giving you the benefits of dental implants without the higher cost of individual implants for every tooth. We also provide traditional dentures and partials that are held in your mouth by dental adhesive.
